Purpose of this Web Site

These web pages are for the purpose of providing information to enable collaboration for furthering research and the development of effective treatments in orthopaedics. Unfortunately I am unable to answer e-mail concerning specific clinical questions or direct patients to individual surgeons or information sources. If you are a patient or relative of a patient you should direct any questions you have to your family doctor in the first instance or to your own specialist.

If you wish to be referred to me as a patient you will need a letter from your GP or specialist. Please e-mail mail, telephone, fax or write to the relevant secretary below to arrange appointments or Click on the type of appointment required. Important information Metal on Metal Hip Replacements

If you are a patient of Mr Peter Kay and have been operated on by him or any member of his team I can assure you that you have not been given (implanted with) a metal on metal hip replacement. Mr Kay has however revised many metal on metal hip replacements but has never implanted a metal on metal hip replacement into his patients at either primary or revision hip replacement. This is because he has always believed that conventional hip replacement with either metal on plastic or ceramic on plastic joint surfaces has, and continues to, deliver the best long term results even in young patients and this is supported not only by his personal experience but also by data from International Joint Replacement Registries world wide.

Information on the internet is not subject to editorial control and may represent views that are not generally accepted or offer opinions that are overstated and go unchallenged. It is also important to ensure that those offering treatment are qualified to do so. I do not necessarily endorse any of the information obtained through the links on this web site.
